By regions the highest prevalence of overweight obesity reported in Taizhou (10%, 14.2%), Xuzhou (9.4%, 12.5%), and Nanjing (9.2%, 15.6%), respectively. Males had a significantly higher rate than in female's student. The total prevalence of overweight and obesity was 12.4% and 5.7%. Anthropometric measurement including bodyweight, height, BMI and bust were significantly different between males in urban compared to females living rural areas (P<0.001). Weights and heights were obtained for each subject and its body mass index (BMI) was calculated using the Chinese Working Group on Obesity in China (CWGO). A total of 255,581 subjects (50.03% males and 49.97% females) enrolled in 82 school and 10 universities in Jiangsu. This cross-sectional study was carried out as part of students physical fitness and health survey in Jiangsu province. To ensure the safety of drinking, the regulation of source water and surveillance of drinking water should be strengthened.
Conclusions The source water in partial areas of Jiangsu Province has been contaminated by Giardia and Cryptosporidium. Cryptosporidium oocysts were also detected in 3 (10.71%, 3/28) source water samples ( Nanjing, Zhenjiang, Yangzhou cities), with the density of 1 oocyst/10 L of all. However, Giardia cysts were detected in 3 (10.71%, 3/28) source water samples (Yancheng, Lianyungang, Changzhou cities), with the density of 1 cyst/10 L of all. Among the chlorinated water and tap water samples, no Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocysts were found. Results Totally 84 samples from 13 cities were collected, including 28 source water, 28 chlorinated water and 28 tap water samples.
The water samples were then treated by filtration, washing, centrifuging concentration, immune magnetic separation, and immunofluorescent assay, to detect the numbers of Giardia cysts and Cryptosporidium oocysts. Methods A total of 28 water plants of 13 cities in Jiangsu Province were selected, and the source water (10 L), chlorinated water (100 L) and tap water (100 L) were collected separately in each site. Objective To know the contamination status of Giardia lamblia and Cryptosporidium in drinking water of Jiangsu Province, so as to provide the evidence for producing hygiene and safety drinking water. īi-Xian, N I Ming-Xue, S Xiang-Zhen, X U Xiao-Ting, W Yang, D Xiao-Lin, J
